WWJD (What would Julie do?)

Hellooo, Hellooo, Hellooo! Is anybody out there?

I can hear Julie Andrews singing in my head, “Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start,” and yet starting seems to be a far greater challenge than I imagined.

I’ve spent the past 25.5 years negotiating, laughing, making music, and shaking my head in amazement at/with teenagers. There were lots of great days and then there were other kinds of days. I never lost my love for and fascination with that age—still kids and, terrifyingly, almost adults. It was an incredibly rewarding, albeit unexpected, career.

But, this is not about teaching. Teaching is something I did. It’s something for which I’m grateful and something with which I am finished—in the formal sense of the word teaching.

This is about the great unknown of retirement, the benefit of age and wisdom, plus all the Debby you can handle. Be careful what you wish for.

Feel free to explore a bit here. I will be adding things as they develop. I hope you’ll follow me wherever I drag you!

Love, Debby

I’m happy for you. I must point out, though, that for some of us, being a teacher isn’t just what we do (or did); it’s who we are.

I do find the color difficult to read. Could just be my age though. 🥰🤗
