Men Like This

I love cookbooks.  I don’t know why, but I do.  I have a zillion (please don’t give me any more), and I find them fascinating, especially vintage cookbooks.  I pored over my mom’s, looking at the pictures and imagining the lifestyle that would allow me to cook those meals.

One recipe in particular tickled my fancy:  The Green and Gold Casserole, replete with a note, courtesy of my grandmother, Sally Israel.

“Super!  Excellent! Men like this”

Writing notes on recipes was a thing for my grandmother and my mom.  It has become a little joke and a fun activity for us.  A few months ago, my husband, Jim—fan of all Facebook ads—gave me this stamp for my recipes, made even better with one of my favorite images of my late mom, Judy, toasting with a beer.

Debby likes this. I love you, Jim.  You can always help me find my smile.

Next time, let’s talk about Sally and masking tape.

I can easily imagine Judy laughing uproariously about that stamp!
